Joey Lucchesi Swallows Tough Loss
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joey Lucchesi pitched well in a loss Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, surrendering two earned runs in 5 1/3 frames. He was automatic until the sixth inning when he was pulled with the bases loaded in a tie game. The Friars bullpen promptly let in the go-ahead run, handing Lucchesi his fourth loss. In all, he gave up three hits with a walk while striking out five and hitting two batters. The rookie southpaw holds an impressive 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 9.2 K/9 in 13 starts this season. Performing like he belongs in the big leagues, Lucchesi has become a trustworthy fantasy starter. He'll square off against the Los Angeles Dodgers at home next Wednesday.
