3 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto was ejected from Saturday's 7-5 loss to the San Diego Padres after going 0-for-1 with a strikeout. Votto checked his swing on a first-inning pitch but it was appealed and the third-base umpire ruled that Votto had gone around. Votto and manager David Bell did not agree with the call and the first baseman eventually had to be restrained from the home plate umpire as he got heated during the argument. He was replaced at first base by Mike Freeman, who went 0-for-1 before Scott Heineman pinch-hit. Votto is hitting .234 with eight homers, 18 runs, 29 RBI, and a steal in 145 at-bats.--Matt T - RotoBaller
