Joey Votto Expects To Have A Better Season In 2021
4 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto told reporters that he expects to be better this year than he was in 2020. The veteran first baseman stated, "I refined last year. I'll be better than the back little bit of the season just because I've worked on it and I'll dedicate myself to it. I can't wait. I'm so excited." His swing "refinements" mid-way through the shortened 2020 season led to a power surge, along with increased strikeouts. Overall, Votto slashed .226/.354/.446 with 11 homers, 22 RBI, and 32 runs across 186 at-bats. No longer a starting-caliber fantasy first baseman in mixed leagues, Votto should be treated as a reserve option in 12-team formats.
