Joey Votto Hits 13th Homer in Loss
5 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Votto launched a third-inning pitch from Michael Wacha over the fence for his 13th home run of the season. It has been a very slow season for the star first baseman, who is hitting just .261 with a .759 OPS, the 13 homers, 66 runs, 40 RBI, and four steals in 118 games. With just 25 total homers since the beginning of the 2018 season and quickly decreasing walk rate, it appears Father Time may have caught up to the veteran. He is more of a bench option in National League-only formats.
