Joey Votto Hits First-Inning Homer In Win
4 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Votto took St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright deep in the first inning, providing all of the offense Cincy would need in the eventual win. It has been another slow season for Votto at the plate as his production began to decline in 2019 and that has carried over to 2020. He is slashing just .219/.335/.409 with seven homers, 22 runs, and 14 RBI across 137 at-bats. While he was once a no-brainer, must-start in fantasy he's now more of a low-end bench option for gamers. Votto will look for homer No. 8 on Saturday against Dakota Hudson.
