Joey Votto Strikes Out Three Times Friday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 1-for-4 with a single and three strikeouts in his team's 12-6 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday. The one-hit game drops Votto's batting average to .282 on the season and you have to go all the way back to July 24 for Votto's last three-strikeout game. The veteran has been solid at the plate this season but he has only nine homers, 62 runs, and 57 RBI. Those numbers are well off his 2017 numbers of 36-106-100, which earned him a second-place MVP finish. With the fantasy playoffs underway in most leagues, Votto does not have to be considered a must-start.
