Joey Votto Triples, Drives In One
6 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 1-for-5 with a triple, a run, and an RBI in a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. The veteran first baseman's first-inning triple brought rookie Nick Senzel around to score, giving the Reds their first run of the game. Votto has struggled in the early stages of the season, hitting just .206 with three homers, 18 runs, seven RBI, and a steal. It is unlikely that the former fantasy stud will rebound as his walk rate is down and his strikeout rate is up from his career averages. Votto is hard to trust as an everyday fantasy starter and instead is more of a matchup play going forward. He will face Giants ace Madison Bumgarner on Sunday.
