5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays are activating infielder Joey Wendle for Thursday's game against the Angels and are optioning Christian Arroyo to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Wendle played eight games with the Rays this year before fracturing his wrist which has kept him out of action since April 25. He went 7-for-15 with a homer in four rehab games in the minors, a terrific sign moving forward since wrist injuries are known to linger. Wendle's role remains undetermined with a crowded roster of infielders although he has played some outfield as well. The 29-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2018 batting an even .300 with 16 steals, but he doesn't offer much fantasy value in the power categories. Wendle is a fine addition in deep mixed leagues but don't expect him to contribute every day just yet.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
