2 years agoMiami Marlins third baseman Joey Wendle (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Jacksonville and serve as the designated hitter. Wendle has been out since early June, but he's nearing a return to Miami's starting lineup. Barring any setbacks, the 32-year-old could be back in the big leagues at some point next week. Fellow third baseman Brian Anderson (back) is also rehabbing at Jacksonville and could return around the same time Wendle does. Wendle was hitting .284/.340/.420 with two homers, 11 RBI and four stolen bases in 29 games before his injury and he's the most attractive fantasy third baseman in Miami, but he could lose valuable playing time to both Anderson and Jon Berti, who has been filling in primarily at the hot corner with both Wendle and Anderson on the shelf.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
