Joey Wentz Called Up To Start Game 2
2 years agoDetroit Tigers left-hander Joey Wentz was called up from the minors on Tuesday to serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. Wentz will serve as the starting pitcher for Game 2. The 24-year-old southpaw will likely be sent back to Triple-A Toledo after the game. It will be just his second MLB appearance and start after he surrendered six earned runs on seven hits while striking out one and walking two in 2 2/3 innings in his MLB debut against the Oakland Athletics back on May 11. Wentz will be hoping to do better against Minnesota, but fantasy managers shouldn't trust him. In seven starts for Toledo this year, Wentz has a 4.73 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 34 K's and 12 walks in 26 2/3 innings pitched.
