4 years agoBaltimore Orioles left-handed pitcher John Means has maxed out at 74 pitches this season, with manager Brandon Hyde removing that cap ahead of Wednesday’s start against the Mets. Means has combined to toss just 14 ⅔ frames through his first five outings, having allowed 14 runs (in addition to six homers). But Means, who possesses an elite spin rate on his fastball, was an All-Star last year and has largely received some bad luck with his 8.59 ERA sitting vastly above his 4.85 xERA. With his pitch count cap now removed going forward, season-long owners can feel comfortable deploying him in deeper leagues.--Jesse Borek
