John Wolford Leads Rams in Passing While Facing Texans Starters
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback John Wolford completed 14-of-22 passes for 142 yards after being named the starter in the Rams' 24-20 preseason loss to the Houston Texans. He was sacked five times and faced heavy pressure from a Texans defense that played its starters for the entire first half. Wolford, who has served as the No. 2 quarterback for the past two seasons, did not play during the 2021 preseason. He only attempted four passes in the regular season. Rams coach Sean McVay has not said there is an open competition for the backup QB role. Wolford is competing with Bryce Perkins to be Matthew Stafford's backup.
