2 years agoMiami Marlins utility infielder Jon Berti has missed the last two games with lower-extremity tightness, but manager Don Mattingly is optimistic about baseball's stolen base leader returning on Wednesday. "He's been dealing with it, but I feel like the two days is going to be really beneficial," Mattingly said. "He's a guy that we don't want to lose at this point. He's been too valuable, does too many things. To push him today didn't make any sense." The 32-year-old has been a bright spot for the Fish and fantasy managers in 2022, but he has gone 2-for-23 over his last six games. Berti has a league-leading 25 stolen bases to go along with a .268/.363/.378 slash line and two home runs, 18 RBI and 29 runs scored. He has been filling in at second base with Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the injured list, but playing time might be harder to come by once Chisholm returns.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
