Jon Gray Coughs Up Four Runs In Loss
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took the loss on Saturday when he allowed four runs on five hits with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a 7-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Brandon Belt was the bane of Gray's existence on Saturday as the veteran first baseman swatted two home runs off him. The first one was a solo shot in the first inning but the second blast was a three-run tater to put San Francisco up 4-2 in the fifth inning. The Giants would add to that margin and saddle Gray with his 12th loss of the season. The hard-throwing right-hander has now gone eight straight games without notching a quality start, which is a troubling trend. He'll carry a 4.28 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 150:58 K/BB ratio over 145 innings (28 starts) into his final start of the season against Arizona on the road.
