Jon Gray Dazzles Over Five Innings On Friday
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Jon Gray took a no-decision on Friday when he allowed just five hits with 10 strikeouts over five innings in a 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Brewers. Gray missed a few turns in the rotation while dealing with a right forearm flexor strain so he was making his first start since returning from the IL. He looked no worse for the wear on Friday as he cruised through his five innings of work, punching out a season-high 10. He was on a loose pitch count and fired off 83 pitches so he didn't come back out for the sixth inning. The hard-throwing righty now owns a solid 3.97 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 60:27 K/BB ratio over 68 innings (13 starts) on the season. He'll square off with the Pirates at home in his next turn and will be in play as a streamer.
