3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Jon Gray took the loss on Tuesday when he allowed four runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a 5-3 loss to the Padres. Gray started Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader and pitched better than his box score would indicate. He kept the Pads off the scoreboard until the top of the fifth inning when Trent Grisham knocked an RBI single. He came back out for the sixth and issued a walk before an Alan Trejo error and another walk led to a bases-loaded jam. Gray was then yanked in favor of Robert Stephenson, who served up a grand slam to Victor Caratini. Even though he only surrendered one earned run, it was enough to saddle him with the loss. He still holds a stellar 2.93 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 46 innings on the season. He'll get a rematch with the Padres, this time on the road, in his next turn.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
