3 years agoThe Washington Nationals signed catcher Jonathan Lucroy on Saturday night. Lucroy spent spring training with the White Sox but did not make their roster. Washington has yet to play this season thanks to a coronavirus outbreak. Perhaps this signing is a hint that either Yan Gomes or Alex Avila is one of the sidelined players, but that's just speculation, so wait to hear more. As far as Lucroy is concerned, he hasn't had a wOBA or wxOBA better than .291 since 2017, or better than .311 since 2016. He may become a player to pick up in two-catcher leagues if he plays and shows something, but before then, waivers is where he ought to be.--Nathaniel Green
