Jonathan Villar Belts 14th Home Run Monday
3 years agoOn Monday, New York Mets infielder Jonathan Villar went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the Mets 7-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants. After a rough late July, Villar's bat has been red hot of late. He is slashing .417/.462/.667 with two home runs and five RBI over his last seven games (24 at-bats). In August, Villar is batting .298/.340/.553 with four home runs and nine RBI over 47 AB. With 14 homers, 10 steals, 44 runs, and 31 RBI on the season, Villar remains a solid starting option in deep mixed league and N.L.-only formats, especially with Javier Baez (back) and Francisco Lindor (oblique) currently on the injured list. Villar should continue to get consistent at-bats for the Mets at shortstop. While he remains hot, he also serves as an excellent, cheap play in DFS contests.
