Jonathan Villar Placed On 10-Day Injured List
3 years agoNew York Mets second baseman Jonathan Villar (calf) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 22. Villar suffered a right calf strain during Monday's doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves but likely won't need to spend much time on the shelf. However, with the Mets dealing with a plethora of injuries, the team couldn't afford to have another body out of the lineup. The 30-year-old is batting .246 this season to go along with a .743 OPS, 29 runs, 15 RBI, and six dingers, so managers should continue to retain his services. Travis Blankenhorn was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse, although he shouldn't be considered a suitable replacement.
