2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs placed infielder Jonathan Villar (mouth) on the 10-day injured list on Monday and recalled Nelson Velazquez from the minors in a corresponding move. Villar needs significant dental work. The Cubs also selected the contract of Matt Swarmer and moved Ethan Roberts to the 60-day injured list. The move to put Villar on the IL is retroactive to Friday. The 31-year-old switch-hitter has a slash line of .239/.279/.336 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases in 122 plate appearances over 32 games this year in his first year in Chicago.
