Jonathan Villar Tees Off On Saturday
4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman Jonathan Villar went 1-for-3 with a 408-foot solo home run in the Mets 4-1 victory over the Padres on Saturday. Villar also scored two runs in the contest. Villar, who channeled his inner Darryl Strawberry with the monstrous blast to right field, now has six home runs, 15 RBI, seven steals, and 25 runs scored over 153 at-bats on the season. He also boasts a .255/.337/.431 slash line and has become a special talent off of the Mets bench while J.D. Davis (hand) remains sidelined. Once Davis eventually returns, the Mets may be hard-pressed to relegate Villar to the bench considering the contributions he has provided to the team. Villar remains a must-start who can help fantasy managers in all categories, particularly in on-base-percentage leagues, while his playing time remains consistent.
