Jonathan Villar To Rejoin The Mets On Sunday
3 years agoNew York Mets infielder Jonathan Villar (calf) is set to rejoin the Mets on Sunday following a stint on the injured list. Villar had been dealing with calf tightness, but he played in two rehab games with Triple-A Syracuse experiencing no setbacks, and is ready to return. With J.D. Davis (finger) sidelined, Villar has been a sparkplug for the Mets slashing .246/.333/.410 with six home runs, 15 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 183 at-bats. Villar is worth an add in deep formats and NL-only leagues. Although he may lose playing time when Davis returns, or if the Mets add a third baseman at the trade deadline, the Mets may be hard-pressed to keep Villar's bat in the lineup given their season-long issues generating runs.
