Jordan Lyles Throws Messy Final Tune Up
4 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jordan Lyles was not sharp in his final start before the 2020 season gets underway. In a 7-3 loss to Colorado, the 29-year old threw 90 pitches and couldn't make it through the fifth inning. He gave up three earned runs, five hits, and three walks while striking out three Rockies. Lyles' only clean inning came in the second when he struck out Ryan McMahon and Matt Kemp. Eight baserunners in less than five innings is never ideal. Hopefully, when his turn in the rotation comes around, he will be able to recapture the form he showed in Milwaukee when he flashed a 2.45 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. The right-hander should be left on the waiver wire to begin the season.
