Jordan Matthews Trying To Resuscitate Career
5 years agoAfter three promising seasons to start his career, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jordan Matthews finds himself on the bubble to make his third team in as many years. Despite totaling just 582 yards over the past two years, Matthews is comfortable battling for a roster spot. Of eight Niners receivers, only six are expected to make the 53-man squad. Second-year riser Dante Pettis and draft picks Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd figure to be locks, and Trent Taylor has secured the slot position. That leaves Matthews vying for two coveted spots against longtime Niners Marquise Goodwin, Kendrick Bourne and Richie James Jr. Unless he makes a big impact in camp or contributes elsewhere, things are looking shaky for the 27-year-old Matthews.
