3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery came one out shy of a quality start in Wednesday's no-decision against the Minnesota Twins. Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits. He struck out six batters and generated 15 swinging strikes, 13 of them on his off-speed offerings. The southpaw allowed a two-run double in the first inning but kept the scoreboard clean until the sixth frame. Montgomery has gone at least five innings allowing three runs or less in each of his last two starts, lowering his season ERA to 3.99. He is lined up to face the Toronto Blue Jays for a second time on June 15. He allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings in his first meeting against them.--Tim Capurso
