Jordan Montgomery Has Another Short Start
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery lasted only 3.1 innings against the Blue Jays on Monday, allowing two runs with just one strikeout over 84 pitches. Montgomery has now recorded only 12 outs over his last two starts while allowing six runs, good for a 13.50 ERA. Montgomery’s curveball has been particularly ineffective over those two starts, allowing a 2.000 SLG (26 pitches). 2020 had looked like a rebound year for Montgomery’s curveball after the pitch posted an ugly .527 xwOBA last season, but its performance over Mongomery’s last two starts suggests that the rebound may be short-lived. Curveball aside, Montgomery hasn’t been great all season with a 5.72 ERA and 4.67 FIP, and fantasy owners can comfortably leave him on waivers for now.
