3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery recorded another quality start in Friday's loss to the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery lasted six innings, yielding three runs on three hits while walking two. The lefty struck out four batters and generated an impressive 15 whiffs, nine of them on his curveball. Unfortunately, Montgomery tied a franchise record, as Friday marked his fifth straight start with zero runs of support from the Yankee offense. Montgomery has been a solid back-end starter, with a 24.1 percent strikeout rate and an ability to limit hard contact, though he has more value in formats that track quality starts rather than wins.--Tim Capurso
