4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery had a solid outing on Thursday, tossing 5 1/3 innings of three-run ball with eight strikeouts and no walks. Montgomery’s changeup generated an impressive nine whiffs (27 pitches) in the game, and his 17% swinging-strike rate for the game was unusually impressive. Montgomery still owns an uninspiring 5.11 ERA for the season, but his strong performance and elevated changeup usage (31% usage rate) allowed Montgomery to end his 2020 regular season on a high note.--Sam Chinitz
