5 years agoNew York Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery threw two innings against the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts. Montgomery has gotten his fastball velocity up to 95 mph this spring, a significant improvement from his max velocity of under 93 mph in 2018. Montgomery is a favorite to claim a job in the back end of the Yankee rotation to start the year, and an uptick in velocity could help Montgomery improve his 19.8% strikeout rate. Fantasy owners should monitor Montgomery’s velocity as the season approaches and be encouraged by how he’s looked thus far.--Sam Chinitz
