Jordan Montgomery Takes Loss On Saturday
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery lasted just 4 1/3 innings pitched on Saturday in the Yankees 8-3 loss to the Mets. Montgomery, the pitcher of record, allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks as he fell to 3-3 on the season. He struck out six in the losing effort. It was a poor start to Montgomery's July, after posting a solid 3.77 ERA in 28 2/3 IP over the month of June. Overall, Montgomery has a 4.17 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and an 86:26 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 86 1/3 IP. Montgomery remains a decent back-of-the-rotation streaming option in deeper formats and AL-only leagues. He will next face the Astros on Thursday, who he put up a quality start against back on May 5 at Yankee Stadium. This time, however, he will be facing Houston on the road, where he has been much less effective to the tune of a 5.53 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 2021. Fantasy managers may wish to fade Montgomery for this next contest.
