Jordan Montgomery Throws Two Scoreless Innings
5 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery pitched well in his first spring action, tossing two shutout innings with three strikeouts and a walk. Montgomery has missed nearly all of the past two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but the 27-year-old is coming off of an impressive 2017 rookie season in which he owned a 3.88 ERA over 155 1/3 innings. Montgomery isn’t likely to post a significantly above-average strikeout rate with his 12.2% swinging-strike rate, but his solid 86.7 mph average exit velocity in 2017 makes him likely to post an ERA around 4.00 and should have him on fantasy owner's radars this year as he fights for a spot in the Yankee rotation.
