4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery will start for the first leg of the team’s doubleheader against the Mets on Friday. Montgomery has been decent this season with his 4.66 ERA inflated by one poor performance and a small sample, but the Mets represent a poor matchup for the 27-year-old. Montgomery has relied on his changeup more frequently than usual this season with a 26% usage rate, and the Mets have hit changeups well so far this season. In that vein, the Mets lag only the Giants in xwOBA against changeups this season with a .352 mark, and that should take a significant weapon away from Montgomery in Friday’s start.--Sam Chinitz
