5 years agoWashington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed "stood out" on the first day of training camp, per a Redskins.com report. The report went on to note that Reed was not up to full speed at this time a year ago, so his full involvement from the outset of camp in 2019 should go a long way toward helping the offense mesh. Reed never quite got it going in 2018, despite playing in 13 games for just the second time in his six-year career. As such, he's no longer regarded as a must-own fantasy tight end. Further working against Reed is the fact that neither Case Keenum nor rookie Dwayne Haskins can be considered a major upgrade at quarterback from Alex Smith or the plethora of backups that took his place last season. That said, Reed's fall from the good graces of fantasy owners renders him something of a dormant volcano if things start to trend up this preseason. Keep an eye on him throughout training camp; if he begins to develop a rapport with Keenum (who figures to earn the Week 1 nod at QB) you could do worse than taking a late-round flier on a tight end with Reed's ability.--Chris O'Reilly
