4 years agoToronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Jordan Romano (finger) had a breakout 2020 regular season, but even as he was ready to be activated off of the injured list, general manager Ross Atkins determined that Romano needed more work before joining the playoff roster. Romano allowed two earned runs in 14 ⅔ IP, striking out 21 batters in that span, which moved him into the closer’s gig. He may not reclaim that job during the postseason, but he’ll likely play a role if the Blue Jays advance to the ALDS, as he is slated to face live hitting away from the club.--Jesse Borek
