3 years agoMinnesota Twins second baseman/shortstop Jorge Polanco swatted a three-run homer in Saturday's victory over the Detroit Tigers. Polanco hit the ball hard in his first two at-bats of the day but had nothing on the box score to show for it until he stepped to the plate with two on in the seventh inning. He deposited a ball 375 feet into the stands at 106.9 MPH for his 11th long ball of the season. Polanco carried his red-hot play from June into the first couple of games of July but had cooled off to a 3-for-17 stretch coming into Saturday's contest. Judging by the quality of his at-bats, Polanco seems poised to finish the first half strong against Tigers' pitching on Sunday.--Tim Capurso
