3 years agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Jorge Soler will be the designated hitter for the World Series opener against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. He will also bat leadoff, something he did near the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs. The Braves placed Soler on the COVID-19 injured list before Game 4 of the NLDS. He was activated on October 21 but didn't start the final two games of the league championship series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The slugging outfielder slashed .223/.316/.432 with 27 HRs in 2021. He turned a corner after joining the Braves midseason, posting a .882 OPS and 14 HRs in 55 games. Across 15 postseason plate appearances this year, he's batting just .154 with two doubles and a 33.3 K%. Expect Soler to continue getting reps at DH while playing in Houston.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
