6 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Jorge Soler (toe) is not in Saturday's lineup against the A's. Soler fouled a ball off of his foot Friday night and reportedly bruised his big toe. The former prized prospect has had a breakout campaign this season with Kansas City. After being shipped off by the Cubs for All-Star closer Wade Davis, Soler had been presumed to be a project who had not quite figured it out. Batting and defensive issues in the majors plagued him, and his power did not offset the strikeouts. Nevertheless, this season with the Royals he is slashing .268/.358/.474 with nine home runs and three steals. Although his early-season .300 average has come down due to BABIP regression, he still provides a nice power bump in the heart of a lackluster lineup.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
