Jose Abreu Resting On Monday
4 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is absent from Monday's lineup. Abreu left Friday's contest early after a collision with Hunter Dozier that resulted in a facial contusion and laceration to the face and also a bruised knee. Despite the injuries, Abreu played on Saturday and Sunday. Abreu has been having a big month of May and is hitting .395 with three home runs and 14 RBI over the past two weeks. The slugger will be replaced at first base by Andrew Vaughn on Monday. Vaughn is coming off a week with two dingers, but has just three hits over his last 20 at-bats. Vaughn will square up against J.A. Happ on Monday. Outfielder Adam Eaton will also be out of the lineup with a lefty on the mound. Eaton will be replaced by Danny Mendick. Mendick will bat ninth and is a risky DFS option on Monday.
