Jose Altuve Nearing Massive Extension
7 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is nearing a five-year, $150 million extension that would begin in 2020, per MLB.com. The reigning MVP's deal ensures he will be in the heart of the Houston lineup for a long time after slashing .346/.410/.547 with four triples, 24 home runs, 32 stolen bases, 39 doubles, 81 runs batted in, 106 runs scored and 204 hits in 2017. He now has 200-plus hits in each of his last four seasons and 168 doubles over that span. He isn't merely the best player at his position but one of the most dangerous bats in all of baseball. Altuve proved it throughout the 2017 postseason, hitting .310 with seven home runs, 14 runs batted in while leading the Astros to their first ever World Series championship. Altuve is a sure-fire top-three selection in fantasy in all formats, and there is no reason to doubt him putting up monster numbers again this season.
