Jose Altuve’s Early Season Struggles Continue With 0-for-6
4 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve has proven to be one of the sport's most prolific hitters over the past decade, but his ice cold start to the 2020 year is reaching a fever pitch following an 0-for-6 performance Sunday against the Angels. Having also left nine men on base, it marks just the third time in Altuve’s career that he has produced an 0-for-6 showing. Through his first nine games, his average sits at a paltry .158 with a .552 OPS, far below what owners were anticipating from the four-time American League hit leader. Equally concerning is his lack of hard contact to open the season, entering Sunday with an average exit velocity of 84.1 MPH, which would be the lowest of his career. His price tag remains sky high in DFS, but until he begins to turn the corner, owners can opt for more reasonably priced options.
