Jose Alvarado Walks Three In Latest Shaky Outing
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado pitched a scoreless sixth inning despite three walks on Monday against the Nationals. Alvarado did pick up a strikeout as he remains a strong strikeout pitcher with a 28.6 percent K-rate on the season. All those whiffs come at a price, however, as Alvarado continues to walk too many batters to be a reliable relief option. The left-hander is the only qualified reliever with a walk rate over 20 percent and his 8.42 BB/9 is almost a full walk higher than the next-closest reliever. As a result, he's fallen in the pecking order in the Philly bullpen and has little use in fantasy.
