Jose Barrero To Compete For Starting Spot
3 years agoCincinnati Reds shortstop Jose Barrero is expected to compete for the starting gig in spring training, according to manager David Bell. It's worth noting that Bell mentioned Kyle Farmer is likely to enter spring training as the starting shortstop. Although, Barrero will get a legitimate chance to earn the starting job. The 23-year-old struggled with the Reds last season, but played well in the minors. He hit .303/.380/.539 with 19 homers, 66 RBI and 16 stolen bases between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He could be someone worth looking at in deep leagues.
