3 years agoCincinnati Reds shortstop Jose Barrero (hand) is expected to be sidelined six weeks. He was diagnosed with a hamate injury in his left hand. This is a shame considering the 23-year-old was expected to compete for the starting shortstop spot in spring training. The young infielder has struggled during his brief time in the big leagues. However, he hit well during his time in the minors last season. He should get an opportunity to play in Cincinnati at some point this season. In the meantime, it sounds like Kyle Farmer has won the Opening Day shortstop gig by default.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
