Jose Bautista Has Semi-Successful Mets Debut
7 years agoWhen outfielder Jose Bautista signed with the New York Mets on Tuesday, many were surprised to see him in the starting lineup right away. Hitting fifth and playing left field, Bautista’s debut in Queens was a semi-successful one. The Amazins may have lost to the Miami Marlins 3-1, but Joey Bats was sadly just about the only bright spot offensively. He finished 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two strikeouts, scoring the only run for the Mets on the evening. After slashing .143/.250/.343 across 40 plate appearances with the Atlanta Braves earlier this season, we wouldn’t expect much out of Bautista moving forward. He can safely be left in your free-agent pool.
