Jose Berrios Done In By Five-Run Sixth
5 years agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios pitched well against the Detroit Tigers until he ran into a five-run sixth inning which was fueled by a Ronny Rodriguez grand slam. Berrios wound up allowing five runs over 5 1/3 innings of work while striking out five and walking two. The young hurler took the loss, dropping his record to 10-7, to go along with a 3.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 155 strikeouts over 163 innings of work. Berrios has taken a big step forward this season but he has cooled off some of late, posting a 5.60 ERA over the past month. He will look to get straightened out in his next start, which comes against the Chicago White Sox.
