Jose Berrios Saddled With The Loss Thursday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios pitched five innings, giving up two earned runs and two walks while striking out six in the loss. Berrios was better than in his first outing but he still wasn't particularly sharp, only throwing 57 of 96 pitches for strikes. The 26-year-old struggled with command throughout the night and couldn't put away hitters. Fortunately for Berrios, he was able to limit the damage after his one real mistake of the night: the Francisco Lindor home run. Unfortunately for him, the Twins' lineup ran into a buzzsaw named Shane Bieber, who struck out 13 Twins through eight scoreless innings. There's no reason to be overly concerned at the moment- Berrios just needs to execute better. His next start against the Pittsburgh Pirates could be just what the doctor ordered.
