3 years agoMiami Marlins shortstop Jose Devers (shoulder) is currently on a throwing program but is not able to play in spring games yet, according to manager Don Mattingly. Devers had right shoulder surgery in August of last year after appearing in 21 games for the Fish in 2021. In 46 plate appearances in his first major league action last season, the 22-year-old hit .244/.304/.317 with no home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored. The Marlins won't rush him along early this year, but Devers should be able to play at some point, barring any setbacks with his shoulder. He had a .231/.250/.308 slash line with no homers, three RBI and four runs scored in 41 plate appearances over 12 games with Triple-A Jacksonville last year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
