Jose Iglesias Reinstated From IL, Had Been Set To DH

4 years agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop/designated hitter Jose Iglesias was activated off of the injured list Thursday and was set to serve as the DH against Tampa Bay prior to the game’s cancellation. Iglesias has been battling a strained left quad for much of 2020, which has relegated the slick-fielding shortstop to take up DH duties. The hope was that a stint on the IL would allow the ailment to heal, although how healthy he is remains up in the air. Iglesias has produced the best offensive season of his career thus far, batting .400 with a 165 OPS+ in his first 16 games. A staple in the heart of the Orioles’ order, Iglesias has medium-sized or larger season-long appeal moving forward.--Jesse Borek
