Jose Leclerc Optioned to Triple-A
7 years agoTo clear room for the returning Martin Perez, the Texas Rangers optioned reliever Jose Leclerc to Triple-A. The 24-year-old has pitched well in 2018, giving up no runs while striking out a batter per inning over three innings. Leclerc was a dark-horse candidate to close games, but he'll make way for the veteran due to his contract still having options available. While at times suffering from control issues, the righty gets plenty of swings and misses and is an interesting name to keep an eye on as the Rangers bullpen continues to take shape. If the in-house options fall flat as they did last season, there's no reason Leclerc couldn't run away with the ninth inning.
