7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Jose Martinez got off to a great start on Opening Day, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Martinez smashed a home run in the sixth inning and had a pair of singles to go with it. Most importantly, Matt Carpenter started at third base, giving Martinez a spot in the lineup at first base. Consistent playing time is still a slight concern, but Martinez has the bat to force his way into the lineup and into fantasy relevance in all formats. He might still be on the waiver wire: he shouldn't be. Snatch him up in all formats if possible.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
